Hi folks, I did quite a bit of reading-up and this issue seems common on my kind of phone. I followed tips on hardware check and confirmed that my GPS radio, antenna and the connector in between are all intact; I confirmed this after opening up the phone (taking it apart a bit) as well as during the use of the apps "GPS Test", "GPS Status" and "Radar". All of them show 2 or more satellites appearing and then disappearing intermittently.
During one of many GPS flushes (refreshing), I did manage to get a lock and confirmed so when my Google Maps pinpointed my precise position, this was short-lived however. I stand to be corrected when I say that "I'm now convinced that it is the combination of several GPS-using apps in my phone that are causing the problem (not locking-on) as they compete to use that single resource (the GPS) in their own ways, at the same time. This problem seems unique to the phone when running Android-5.0 as I never heard of it happening on its original Android-4.3 and 4.4 or even in my previous phone (Samsung GT-I8262) which ran 4.1.2
I briefly gave a thought to invoking some of those hidden Samsung service menus...the ones that are called up by dialing a USSD code. I don't know the USSD for the sensors (config) menu but I do know that *#9900# calls up the memory-dump menu while *#9090# calls up a menu I thought would help me fix my GPS; apparently it couldn't or I misinterpreted it when it appeared.
I'd appreciate a solution from anyone with such so I can also help others who don't yet know how to seek assistance from great guys like all of you...yet.
