GPS refuses to get a lock occasionally

Anyone run into issues with GPS occasionally not getting a lock? Maybe 1/10 of the time I try to use the phones GPS it refuses to get a lock.

When it's in an uncooperative mood GPS Status will show 0/22 satellites, and make it up to 1, then back down to 0 over and over. The phone will not get a GPS lock no matter how long I let it try. Giving it a few healthy 'love taps' fixes it, but it's not really a great solution..

Anyone run into a similar issue or have any thoughts?

Mine can take a while sometimes. What I find even more annoying is the lack of a strong lock. I'll be sitting in my office at home (near the back of the lot), and GPS will lock on showing that I am sitting in my neighbor's front yard.

Was in DC earlier this week for work, and used GPS to find the office I was going to. According to the GPS I was driving in a big field next to the highway, and farther behind than I actually was, so I almost missed a few exits as I'd be passing them when she would tell me to turn. VERY FRUSTRATING!

mine does not get locked in the apartment, however once outside no problem. this is common with samsung.

If you are inside a building, the GPS is probably going to take longer to connect. I have noticed this on both stock roms and CM10. Previous poster is correct though, as soon as I go outside it connects in about half the time if not less than that.

Usually that's exactly how mine will work. If I walk outside it will immediately get a lock. But sometimes, even outside, it just refuses to lock on. It's obnoxious because any time I plan on using Google Nav I usually have to go outside before leaving to make sure the GPS will actually work.

Hmm. I will have to test this out now that you mention it.

I am having a big problem with my GPS. Even my POS iPhone locked on when I was in the backcountry. Was in mammoth lakes this weekend backpacking and my damn phone wouldn't ever get a lock on my GPS signal so I couldn't track my progress or anything, I was pretty pissed.

my phone will have this issue as well. I will be OUTSIDE and occasionally it just cannot find me at all. Or it will take 10 minutes to find me. What is odd is that normally it doesnt do this. but maybe 1/15 times it does this and it renders the navigation completely useless. I was even in an area with good cell coverage so i would have thought it would have been able to converge somewhat easily since it already knew where I was in general.

No idea what causes it to do this.

I talked to Verizon today and was told they've had a few reports of this issue. They're sending a new phone.

I have the same issue with GPS unable to consistently lock. Even after it locks, it will lose the lock and show me miles away.

Very frustrating My Dinc2 never had an issue in the same exact areas ... nor does my wife's iPhone 4S.

It can take a while sometimes. But, one thing is for sure at least in my case. It is a hell of a lot quicker on the S3 then it is on the Maxx. It is also more accurate.
