GPS via Bluetooth issue

I haven't been able to find a fix or a thread leading toward a fix so here's my issue. I don't have en issue connecting to my car but I have an issue with my phone not playing GPS directions unless the radio is actually on Bluetooth input. Is there a way to get the GPS to interrupt over radio stations so I can do both? Even when I use "OK Google" and voice commands there is no sound unless again the radio is on Bluetooth input. My Notes all did it so I know it's possible.

AFAIK you couldn't hear the notifications unless you were actively playing audio from your device (i.e. Spotify, in which case the directions, unless you muted them, would play over the music). There is an option to get Driving Notifications over Bluetooth in Maps, Settings, Navigation Settings, but that only claims to send ETAs for your trip. I haven't tried it so can't say if that is the case or if it's what you are looking for, but you might try that.

I have to call you on your claim that your notes did this because it wont unless your car supports it
This has to be a solution from your car company. They have 2 separate channels for radio and bluetooth and each play audio separately. you have to switch input to play each audio in car

if your car can channel both audio then this is possible else no. Its also not something a phone has to support.

To clarify, my Notes all worked in my truck. I'm trying to get the Pixel to work in my Focus, different vehicle. But if what you're saying is true how can the phone interupt the radio when it rings but not when you get an alert, makes no sense.

The phone and audio profiles are usually handled differently by the audio unit. When a call comes in, the Phone profile is used and it does interrupt ongoing activities to connect the call. For Maps notifications, however, the phone is using the Media profile (unless the switch I mentioned before, somehow, routes said notifications through the Phone profile...something I've never seen or used in my phones, and yes, I've had all Notes too), and for THAT, the car needs to be actively streaming the audio from the device (i.e. your car's Bluetooth Audio selector).
