So... Anyone picking up Gran Turismo 5 today? I bought my PS3 on release day, and GT5 was advertised on the box... So I think I've waited long enough to justify buying myself a gift before the holidays... Also picked up the Logitech Driving Force GT steering wheel just for this game...

A word of caution from my experience: Do not get into a heated race with the wheel attached to a small snack table... Said tables become projectiles during the heat of battle due to the force feedback...

Anyhoo... Just curious who else may be racing out there today... As in my sig, my PSN Name is: CRKhead... Add me if you want... :)

Pre-ordered mine.. couldn't get it though. Hopefully I can pick it up today. How do you like it? Worth the wait?

I sold my PS3 a few months back but will be getting a new one in a few weeks, GT5 will probably be the first game I purchase. I am very disappointed in the reviews though. The game has been in development for twice as long as the best games this generation but is blatantly unpolished in many areas. I would have preferred 400 premium cars to 200 premiums and 800 standard cars. I don't even like the idea of having a fragmented car selection. Furthermore, the fact that standard cars can not be visually customized enrage me. Some of my favorite cars are standard so it makes no sense to me. What the **** was PD doing this entire time? With $60 million in production money I bet several other companies could have created a superior racing game in 3 years.

Here's a good quote:

Gran Turismo 5 is a 10/10 simulator wrapped up in a 5/10 game – driving is as exhilarating as anything that’s gone before, and slavish obsession with the minutiae of many of its cars ensure it's an encyclopaedia of automotive delights. Its brilliance on the track, however is matched by its sloppiness off of it, and there’s a lack of polish that would at one time have seemed sacrilegious to the series. Ultimately its driving wins out to ensure that it’s still a great game, but it leaves that nagging doubt; this could have been a masterpiece were it not for the fact that Polyphony was so absorbed with the detail that it took its eye off the ball.

I've heard Forza is way better, but it's only on Xbox. Could just get NFS Shift.
GT5 has better graphics hands down, Forza 3 looks sub-HD next to GT5. However, I believe Forza is superior in many areas because of its consistency. All cars can be fully customized, all cars have in car view etc. I NEED to be able to fully customize any car, I have no freaking idea why you can't in GT5.

Gah, this is disappointing. This was by far one of my most anticipated games for the next year or so at least. *sigh* I'll still probably buy it...

Tell me about it. Complete letdown on PDs part. 5 years and this is all they have come up with. The racing looks so sterile to me. The series hasn't changed AT ALL since GT1.

getting a copy sent to me eventually, but i probably wont give it much of a look. having MUCH more fun playing NFS hot pursuit right now. i know its apples and oranges, but i dont think gt5 is going to tear me away
