Any word yet on if people with grandfathered unlimited data plans will be able to keep them on the GN, or will VZW be forcing us off those?

As of right now, a switch from 3g to 4g will allow you to keep unlimited data, but who knows when verizon will stop this, and once your plan has been switched to 4g, you should be safe no matter what, as long as you make no changes to your data plan

Not necessarily. Verizon could require tiered plans on any new upgrades whenever they feel like it.

That's why I couldn't leave VZW. Unlimited data is hard to give up. From my experience they don't throttle either, it's full blown LTE all the time.

I heard sometime in march is when you are required to have a tiered plans for new phones buuuuut that's just a word on the street.

Right now yes. I heard march/April they might kill grandfaterered. Would need to not update your contract and pay full price for phones.

I just want to interject and throw this out there. I'm sue the answer is yes, but... People having trouble staying under 2 gigs are jumping on wifi at home or in other areas I hope.

p.s. I am a grandfathered Unlimited Data user

2gb is not very hard to pass even when you don't use Netflix or hulu. I do it every month and use neither of those services

When I get the nexus I'm going to exploit every kilobyte of my unlimited plan dude. Streaming video, wifi tethering, all that good stuff.

That'll easily take me over 2 gigs.

At present I'd be surprised if I was using 300 megs let alone a gig.

The 4gig for 2gig promotion they have going now is pretty good. Vz tech person told me it will expire on 12-31.

with my OG droid, I average 2.75 gigs per month. And I dont even use netflix or hulu. Didnt even know I used my phone that much. Downloading 100 meg podcasts really gets to the cap.

Now that it's released, I was wondering if anyone has had success or failure attaching their old grandfathered unlimited data plan to the Nexus.

Just wanted to make sure VZW didn't throw any curveballs, as I've been banking on keeping unlimited, once I swap phones.

No issues here. I flat out asked and the guy said "Your unlimited data won't be affected at all" which is good because I get unlimited data for $9.99 a month.

they id make me change my plan a little, I had a family plan with 2100 mins and they said I had to change it to a newer plan that was 2000 mins and $10 less a month. We only use around 1000 mins at most so I didnt really care

In the last three months I went from unlimited 3g on an og droid to unlimited 4g on a bionic to unlimited 3g on a blackberry pearl for two days and back to unlimited 4g when I ordered the nexus.

Option is all the same, just says "Unlimited web and email for a smartphone"

I'm in the same promo as WebDev above. When I signed up for it, they told me as long as I maintain at least one line of service, my data plan won't change. Once they rolled out 4G in my area, I called to confirm my data plan wouldn't be affected. No change in data plan. Upgraded a device on one of my lines 3 months ago. Data plan remains.

Sounds like everyone who has wanted to keep their unlimited data plan was able to, when they switched to Nexus.

What I wanted to hear.

I'll just add another yes to that. Just picked mine up at bb... god this phone is sweet:)! The guy that rang me up did kinda stumbled through the keeping unlimited data but the manager (I think) lady showed him how and reasured it will still be there.
