Great *REAL WORLD* review of the Note 7

Great review, one of my favourites. Check out Mr. Mobile aka Mr. Michael Fisher, MKBHD, Detroit Borg and Flossy Carter!!!

My top YouTube reviewers.

With phones like the ZTE Axon 7 having nearly identical specs (with speakers that are worlds better) there is no excuse for this phone to be $450 more (more than twice the price). Samsung are the apple of Android. They have the brand power and they charge that because they can.

It's a good phone but way too many faults for the price

The lag? Haven't noticed. Can you name a few, only had it for 24 hours.

Price is getting ridiculous even with the $200 trade-in. I had a dead Samsung S2x.

Not sure if Apple or the Canadian Dollar is to blame but what can you do. Life.

I mentioned Apple because Samsung is taking NOTE of how much are consumers WILLING to spend on a phone.

While I agree the price for the Note is approaching unreasonable, it still is different.
From what I've read, the Note speakers not being loud is due to the water/dust resistance that the axon doesn't have.
The biggest feature of the Note line is the s-pen and it's features, which again the Axon doesn't have.
I wish Samsung had the brand power you mentioned because then the carriers wouldn't be allowed to tamper with it's software.

I am so tired of hearing that stupid "feels good in the hand" line. Every review talks about it and of course follower the leader takes over and the customers have to say it too. In that regard Samsung is like Apple as they have a herd of sheep.
People fell for the premium feel line also, now they have super fragile phones. Will they ever learn.

Interesting review. He said he dropped it and it was unscathed.

Not sure I would let a toddler play with my phone or take in in the ocean :).

Really? Nearly identical specs? It has an iris scanner? An active stylus? It is IP68 certified? They have MST technology for their payment solution? It of course supports both Qi and PMA wireless charging standards? These things cost money. And while these things may not be worth it to you (God bless, buy what you love and love what you buy) they are worth the price to others, and it does not make these phones anywhere near equivalent.

Never heard of Detroit Borg, thanks! Otherwise we have the same taste in reviewers! I'll also add Lisa Gade from Mobiletechreview.

I didn't even know Rettinger had kids now. Shows how much I go to Techno Buffalo these days. Good review.

Actually the two phones I was considering were the axon 7 and the Note 7. In the end, I decided it was worth an extra $400 to get the S Pen, photos that don't have a green tint to them, navigation buttons that are back-lit and not squeezed too close together, and a screen that I can see outside.
Same, but throw in waterproofing for me.

Honestly that's what sold me, as niche as it sounds, that was pretty important to me.

Gotta agree here. Its NOT that its NOT worth every penny of its asking price, because IT IS.... What begins to start making you think "hmmm, is it worth almost $900 bucks?!" is because cheaper phones have gotten sooooo much better. And i do mean, "so much better".....

and what that ACTUALLY translates to (in addition to more $$$$ in your pocket) is that you can have a beautiful, state of the art sleek design, great camera, fingerprint scanner, fast processor, lots of ram, ALL for a almost a 3rd the price Note 7", and one that gives you almost WORRY FREE HANDLING 24/7...

All mfg's are stepping it up, heck, even Samsung's "A Line of 4.7, 5, 5.5 & 6inch " phones are beautiful , front & rear glass (if that's your thang : ) and perform amazing all running Marshmallow....
I have an A3 (2016) that i would put head to head with iphone 6s and it cost me just $250.00...

A3.jpg

The Alcatel Idol 4S, ZTE Axon 7, Huawei/Nexus 6 etc ALL offer an experience that is more than satisfying and will EVEN get you a couple of, "what phone is THAT"?! because they are really designed well....

So in the end its really not about the money, it come down to ONE BURNING question:

Is having a phone that i cannot use WITHOUT constant concern about HOW i am handling it worth the trade off? If the answer is YES, NOTE 7 is top of the food chain, no doubt! BUT, if you would like a TRIPLE PLAY )value/price, design and most importantly EASE of handling) you might be EQUALLY satisfied with a different phone : )
