Grocery Shopping with my good pal Android

My wife hates grocery shopping, and I don't mind it - therefore, I (an Android geek) do the grocery shopping. For years I've used the good old paper list method. That is until today.

I went searching for an app I could load up on my Droid that would accept an imported list, and allow my to check things off as I went along (thanks for all the help, Twitter dudes!). There are plenty of "list" apps to choose from, but all too fancy. I don't need to know how much my lettuce should cost or which of 40 categories I should sort said list into. Nay, I just want to get the items, check them off the list, and move along.

Enter Google Tasks. There's not an app for this per-se, but pointing my Droid's browser to gmail.com/tasks takes me to a land of simplicity when it comes to loading up a shopping list.

In Gmail - just type up the list (one item per line), copy (ctrl-c) the entire list, click on "tasks" (it's just under the "contacts" link), then paste (ctrl-v) in the first line item. The whole list loads and syncs up automatically. Awesome.

Play around with it a little - there are all sorts of happy things you can do with it.

Once again, Android totally saved me time, you guys. Bazinga.

More info? Here it is. Tasks

Have you tried Our Grocery List? Free in the market. Simple and especially nice if your wife has Android also as it allows you to "share" lists in real time with multiple people. Update or cross an item off your list and the change will show up on hers........instantly.

Probably old news to you since you seem to have researched a bit.

Gtasks.
The ONLY app to sync with Google tasks and while shopping you don't need internet access.

For shopping, ive tried em all, my market is my fave.

I shopped some Saturday with a list that my wife sent me via text. I'll stick to a paper list that I can stick in my pocket, and just scratch through with a pen as I go along. Shopping with a phone stuck in my hand was a pain in the a**.

I'd give Our Groceries a +1. Especially since the better half apparently can't tell me what I'm supposed to get but is happy to use the app to add stuff to the list.

Never had a problem with it myself.
