How to send group SMS in MOTO G

Type the number or the names of people you want to send the group SMS when composing a new message in the to section. Works for me.

Hi, I have a new Moto G and am trying to figure out how to select multiple recipients from my 'people' list for a single text message, in the messaging app. The "To" field will only let me type names, but I want to pull up my contacts list and select. I used to do this with my Motorola Charm. Help would be appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

It's much easier to use a Text app from the Play Store like Textra, Chomp, Handcent as these offer many more options and allow you to text to a Group much easier.

Very much stock messaging app with great extras, and group SMS is a breeze.

I'm having the same problem on my Moto X.

I don't won't group messaging as such, just the ability for the messaging app to bring up my contacts list so I may select multiple recipients before returning to the message. I've just moved from a Galaxy S4 which had this functionality, but obviously it was a Samsung extension.
