Group Texting with iPhones

I have seen similar questions asked but have not found an answer to this question. I am running 4.1.2 on a AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 2. All my friends have iPhones and they group text. I am not able to get the texts in a group thread like I could on the iPhone. When switching from the iPhone to Android, I first tried the Samsung Galaxy S4, and it could do group texting with iPhones out of the box and without any tinkering. Is this because it is running 4.2.2 or because Samsung included it? I just would like to figure out a way I can get this to work on my Note 2 as I prefer it over the S4.

They aren't technically texting, they're sending messages via Apple's proprietary iMessage system. Some android SMS programs can more or less play nicely with iMessage, especially on 4.2, but otherwise its a crap shoot.

Thanks for your reply. Well hopefully when the Note 2 gets 4.2 the stock message app will work with iPhone group messages. I have Go SMS Pro working with group texting now, so that is better than nothing.

Last person was sort of right...group texting isn't necessarily iMessaging. With 4.2 you can group text with people regardless of their phone OS, so you just 4.2. I regularly am in group texts with people with iPhones using the stock sms app on 4.2 btw.

It's not iMessage, if it was iMessage you wouldn't receive the message at all on an Android. Historically it's been a problem Android has been facing, even with a third party SMS, it has issues. But that is correct, 4.2 supports it, although not as well as the iPhone still.
