So, I have the Precedent and have had it for over a year now. I like the phone, I just don't like not having a lot of reception unless I'm sitting right on top of a cell tower. Anyway, it was fine yesterday until it rained. Since it rained, I've been "searching for service" and it's the first time that's ever happened. I tried shutting off my phone to see if there was a glitch or something but nope, it didn't work.

Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a way to fix it without dealing with Straight Talk's "wonderful" customer service or spending a lot of money? :-\

I would suggest updating your PRL that should help

Unless the available Sprint towers have changed, changing the PRL can only result in 2 possibilities - no change or loss of signal. The PRL only tells the phone which towers to look for. (The pohone can't use a tower than doesn't have that phone's "class" allowable - in this case a Sprint tower that accepts ST phones.)

I suspect that the original problems are 1) no usable Sprint tower nearby and 2) the only usable tower having had a bad cable that got wet during the rain (and has probably been fixed by now).
