GS2 Skyrocket or Galaxy Note?

I'm really wanting to dump my iPhone 3G for obvious reasons. When I go to the ATT store to play with the Skyrocket and Note, I'm concerned about the size. And in addition, Amazon has the Skyrocket for $99 no tax or shipping.

Do any guys here who made the jump to the Note find it's size doesn't get in the way when carrying it around in a pocket? It just seems pretty big even though having a larger keyboard and viewing sites will no doubt be superior. Can't say as I have much interest in the whole stylus thing either. Does anyone that has one of these actually find the stylus is something that's handy?

Pros and Cons please ...

Thanks.

Jonathan

Had both, the Note is the best choice. I am not going to say you don't notice the size in your pocket but you quickly get used to it. When you read you will note one thing all GN owners say "how did I live with that smaller screen on the ..." A lot of advantages to the 5.3 inch screen especially if you use it for multimedia. I had trouble with the bluetooth on the SR (and if you look at that forum you will see others have as well) that I do not have on the GN. I have only used the stylus a few times but even without ever using it I would still say the Note is the better phone no hesitation at all.

I have had the Note, the Nexus, and the Skyrocket, and I don't feel the need for the Note after using it for a week. The Skyrocket is fast, reliable, and has great battery life, and I didn't see too many benefits out of the Note. Drawing was fun, but I still can't draw. I went with the Nexus for my personal line, and got a Skyrocket for my work line.

$99 is a good deal & do not have a Note, but when the HD SR is released one would think that price would drop a bit more? Granted that is probably another month away.

Have been searching for a definitive release of it, but nothing is coming up yet.

I'm still thinking the Note is too big and since it's not running ICS, it's not that compelling to me. I don't watch movies on a phone since I have a new 3D flat panel, LOL. Am eagerly awaiting the release of the GS2 HD and I'll bet Amazong will drop the price on the Skyrocket when it comes out too! If it goes to $50 and the ICS update comes out, it seems like it's a no brainer to get the Skyrocket instead!

i have two lines the skyrocket is my primary phone and the Note i use more so for internet and apps although i still use the skyrocket as well. i rarely make phone calls on the note......they are basically the same phone but the note is bigger with a pen....I would choose the skyrocket just because the notes size can be a little difficult to deal with at times. the skyrocket is the best phone out.

I can't speak about the SR, but I owned the Epic Touch GS2, and it's basically the same phone. I would say that you really can't compare the two phones because the Note is in a category all its own. The market for the Note is for those that don't want to carry two devices (phone & tablet).

The SR is a only a smartphone, but the Note is more of a personal computer in my opinion. It has the functionality of a smartphone; the added screen size of a tablet, and with the S-pen it has the convenience of a note pad.

No smartphone on the market compares to the Note. If it's only a smartphone you want or need then the SR is your device, but if, like me, you want/need an all-in-one device then the Note is the clear choice.

The size of the note is not an issue for those of us that need that tablet like screen size because we want that function. But if you already own a tablet, or don't mind carrying two devices then you should opt for the SR.

However, don't compare the devices because they have two seperate use cases. In other words, to compare them is like comparing apples to oranges.

DAS, I would agree with you here since in effect, Sammy created a new category with the Note. I have not made the tablet investment as yet, either. And I would also agree that the Note is a combo phone and computer, albeit a small one. With the introduction of On Live Desktop, a tablet makes more sense, or I guess in this case, the Note might suffice. In the end, I'm a bit concerned about the size since I don't carry around a bag or anything. I guess I could get one and try it out during the 30 day trial period and see how it feels. Right now, I'm simply waiting to see which new device comes out next.. HTC OneX, GS2 HD or?? As I said, I've been an iOS person for years, so this means not only changing devices but also the OS.. But I look forward to it too! My iPhone 3G is about as fast as a turtle running through cement, LOL.

Prior to owning the Note, everday I carried a Epic Touch GS2 (which I believed was the mother of all phones), and Tab 7.0 plus. I was paying an additional $30 each month to Sprint for the mobile hotspot feature so I could connect my Tab to the internet during business meetings, and on the go.

However, with the Note I don't need to do that anymore. With one device I have all the functionality of my Epic Touch, the added screen size I needed and used with the Tab 7.0, and the additional feature of a note pad with the S-Pen. I no longer have to pay for the mobile hotspot, and instead of carrying two devices I now only carry the one.

I do a lot of public speaking, and I often get questions from the group or crowd I'm speaking with. The Note allows me to stand up in front of a group, with a sleek and slim profile device (much like an actual notepad) and jot down the questions people are asking, or take a quick notes about a comment or suggestion that was offered. I can even quickly look up a webpage (and actually see it) or "Google" something that I'm not sure of. Before getting this device I always carried my GS2, my Tab 7.0 (tethered to my phone), and a note pad to a speaking engagement; not anymore.

So for me, the Note is an amazing device. My only wish is that it had launched with ICS (only because I want the multitask feature), and on Sprint because having unlimited data on this device would be icing on the cake.

Android has been based on Linux since the beginning. Linux is multitasking and I was just wondering what you mean by "multitask feature".

Thanks for asking me to clarify.

I was more referring to the ability to easily switch between applications like you can on a honeycomb tablet, and in ICS.

As a business professional I wish I could have multiple applications running, and easily with the touch of a button jump between those apps. I used to do this easily when I used my Tab 7.0 Plus. I understand in ICS (correct me if I'm wrong) that I would gain this additional functionality and the ability to swipe away the applications I no longer am using.

This feature and unlimited data would make the note perfect for me. But even without the ability to easily jump between applications and only 3 gigabytes of data a month on At&t, I still believe the Note is best all-in-one device on the market today.

Wow! That's incredible! I think everyone should know about this. Thank you so much for the tip. Until ICS is up and running on the Note this will work great.

Thank you so much!
