Trying to download an apk off the internet

APKs still need to be installed, which means Android will still try to install to devices internal memory. If you don't have enough internal memory, it won't allow the install. I would suggest moving nay music or pictures/videos to your SD card to make room for the app. Also disabling any stock app you don't use in Application Manager, and clear cache and delete the data from the apps you disable.
