Gs3 randomly dropped half its battery life....

So I pulled my gs3 off the charger, then I began surfing the web and moments later noticed that my battery had dropped down to 55%. I also noticed the other day that, while on the charger, my phone was slowly dropping battery percentage while in use which has never happened before. As I type this, my battery has not charged past the 54% it started on in the last 5 minutes I put it back on charge. Do I need a new battery or is this a software issue?

I would reboot into recovery and wipe the phone's cache just in case it is software. Here is how: http://forums.androidcentral.com/sa...ing-into-recovery-mode-galaxy-s2-s3-tab2.html

If Golfdriver's suggestion doesn't resolve the problem consider a battery replacement. You can also do the battery test, where you spin the battery on a flat surface. If it spins for a few seconds then its bad and should be replaced.
