GSam battery monitor question?

Can anybody tell me how accurate Gsam is compared to checking your battery through regular settings?

When I look to see what is chewing up my battery in settings, Google Services seems to be the big culprit, taking up way more of my battery than my screen, but when I go into Gsam it shows that Google services has only used up 2% of my battery since I unplugged the phone. Why would there be such a discrepancy between the two?

I recently started using this app as well because I suspected the stock battery report was mis-stating my battery usage. Android System consistently consumes 60-70% of my battery with the Screen at less than 30%...even though I was getting 5 hours of screen-on time by the time I hit 10% power remaining. Clearly, something wasn't adding up.

GSam, however, gives a more realistic view with the Screen now consuming the greatest percentage...around 70%...which makes much more sense. I really think there's a bug with the stock battery stats.

As to answer your question, my best guess (and it's only a guess) is that GSam breaks down the usage into much more specific elements than the stock app, so "Android System" on GSam may not be the same as "Android System" on stock app (maybe the stock app is encompassing more system processes than GSam?)

Yeah, I thought that might be the case. It seems like my battery life isn't all that terrible, but it just bugs me that it would be something like Google services that is killing my battery, rather than the screen which is what I would be expecting.

I'm curious about this app too. Last night before plugging it in to charge for the night I downloaded a bunch of songs with Amazon MP3 player. I unplugged from charging this morning around 8AM. Now I check GSAM and see that Amazon took 78% of battery. It's pretty much counting the stats for the app last night when I was using it. So it seems the counters didn't reset since the charging event. I've noticed this a fw times with this app and wondering if anyone else has. the view I'm in is "App Sucker - xxx (since Last Unplugged)". Also, I went into preferences and made sure the "View statistics since" is set to "since last unplugged"

That's my guess, too. The Andriod report might be correct that Google Services is taking up that battery, but the GSam report is telling you who's using all those Google Services that are using up the battery.

FWIW, that looks similar to the battery life I get. I have Google Now and location based Tasker profiles (using a plug in that uses Google's new location services API), so the phone is likely checking my location relatively often.
