going to pick up a sim card for AT&T pre paid go phone. If you are using either of the above let me know what speeds you are getting. Is there a difference in speed between GSM LTE and CDMA LTE ? For what its worth I live in New York and get 2 out of the 4 available LTE bands for ATT so I'm willing to take a shot at this to try my turbo with ATT.

I don't have an answer for you, but to clarify, it would be 4G LTE vs 3G. Both would be GSM, which is the overall cell network that AT&T and T-Mobile use for voice calls. CDMA is what Verizon and Sprint use (at least until Verizon completes their conversion to Voice over LTE).

when LTE is not available I should be able to get 4G HSPA+21,42 as the droid has UMTS/HSPA+ (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz) Correct me if I'm wrong but AT&T uses 2 of those frequencies ?

Correct. I was originally going to mention HSPA+ in my first reply, but didn't want to get too detailed. HSPA+ is still GSM, but usually slower than LTE. AT&T calls it 4G, but many authorities consider it more of a "pseudo-4G."
