So the gsm version passed through the FCC Last week and as far as I know cdma has not yet. Is this a bad sign for Verizon customers? Any chance at all the att version comes out first?

A GSM GS2 for AT&T went through FCC back in March. I think that should help answer your question.

I'm thinking (hoping) vzw is the only carrier who will have a subsidized version while the GSM version that looks to work on both at&t and T-Mobile will only be sold normally.

I think they will all be subsidized. The old way doesn't work. If you want to make this phone the next big thing I think they have to have a normal approach.

I agree with ejaymd11; they need to subsidize the phone on all carriers. You can't really do things like introduce all world phones (ala the iPhone 4s) or try to sell phones unlocked if you aren't operating from a position of strength, and up till now the Nexus brand has made no serious inroads with consumers.

The Samsung teaser ad looked like a smart and consumer-oriented commercial, and the fact that Verizon wants this as an early exclusive both argue that Google and Samsung are going to being making a concerted push to get the Nexus brand into the mainstream. And that would be the best possible thing for Android going forward.

Don't count on it, just because it passed through the FCC first means nothing. I know for a fact that a phone named "Nexus Prime" is in Verizons Cellibrite system and I've heard from somebody who is a tester at Verizon about release dates. This person I've been in contact with since when the DROID Incredible was coming out and he's always been spot on with the majority of his info. He has given me correct dates for the new Samsung device coming out this week also so but you never know. He is saying that it's planned to come out on the 27th. Now, if that does in fact happen I can't say for sure but he does have a good track record AND we have seen leaked Verizon roadmaps with that date on it as well. So lets keep our fingers crossed we get this bad boy soon!

I'd like to see both carrier subsidised, and also available via outright purchase for those, like me, who have a SIM only plan.

I hope that the GSM model they will sell in the US won't be the same elsewhere.

I mean, 1700 AWS isn't used elsewhere. The rest of the world wants a phone with WCDMA on 850/900/1800/2100
