Gtalk and Skype uses extra battery?

Hello

Does it use up significant amount of battery life if I stay online via Gtalk or/and Skpe? I don't see Gtalk in the running program when I press home and I am still online and getting notification. How about skype? Thanks

I dont believe so. For GTalk when you have it on it just sits there not really doing anything until a chat comes in.

I use gtalk almost exclusively for my text based communication.
I haven't noticed any battery impact from this.

Anyone noticing a delay on gtalk? Like 10 mins before my friends receives a message from me. Any ideas?
