I've searched high and low, but I can't find a documented way to connect a PS3 controller to a Droid X via Bluetooth, and I would LOVE it if someone could figure out a way to connect them. I know there is an app that connects a Wii controller via Bluetooth, but I'm looking for something that could be used to play games on any emulator, including the PS1 emulator, so I need something with more buttons than a Wii. Yes, I am aware of other controllers that would work via the Wii system, but none that I know with the capabilities of the PS3 controller.

From what I have found online, it seems that the Bluetooth profile used by the PS3 controller is the HID profile. On Motorola's website, it lists the Droid X as being compatible with that profile, so perhaps the only obstacle is having the software for the Droid X to be controlled by the PS3 controller.

If anyone knows more about this, I would greatly appreciate the information. If anyone has the know-how to create a piece of software like this, I would gladly donate to them. Maybe the Wii app could be appropriated to fit the PS3 controller? I'm not nearly developer-savvy enough to accomplish this, so I would love some help! Thanks.

It can be done. Its ugly but can be done. No ones stepped up to the plate yet sadly.

There's numerous articles and reports of it being connected to other phones like the Nokia 900. It involves connecting the controller to a PC with USB then syncing it up somehow. Its way too involved for me sadly as my programming skills are lacking to do this, but I've passed along this info and links to articles to the fellow who wrote the Wii Controller IME app, so hopefully he makes some progress soon.

With Gmans HDMI hack and a working bluetooth PS3 controller, my phone will be complete :)

Just think, hook up the phone to my 62" HDTV, output the emulator sound and all to it and then sit back on my couch with my DualShock 3 controller playing Final Fantasy 7 or Super Mario World or Zelda..... omg its amazing.

Doubt that will work, the HDMI out is still locked to only certain applications... I have wiimote + emulator using one of the Wii classic controllers which works fine, but getting output to hdmi has been impossible.

Its possible. A poster by the name of Gman over at the droidxforums site showed video of him sending his video/audio over HDMI to his HDTV. It showed the home screen, widgets all of it. It has some glitches and he's gonna be releasing an app hopefully by this weekend so we'll see.
