Any guesses on how big the hacking community will be for this. I am worried Devs are going to focus on the One X as it will have more availability. Thoughts?

should be ok. except for the different radios, micro-sd card and camera button, it is the same phone.

Seeing as it uses the same SoC as the One X, would it be possible to get GSM and WCDMA working?

I think this phone, like the original EVO, will have a decent developer base.

We'll know as soon as we get S-OFF (One X still doesn't have it). Evo 4G had massive developer support, it will be hard to match it.

HTC phones on any carrier have always had good developer support. This should be no different.

i will be in no hurry to root as im concerned with what happens when u boot loop u cant pull the battery?
