Had This Phone For 2 Days

I needed an upgrade from my trusty HTC EVO 4g (from 2010) and since I prefer Android over Apple, I was conflicted (HTC ONE or Galaxy S4). I finally caved and upgraded to the Galaxy S4, but boy...it's been dramatic. Don't get me wrong, it's an excellent phone to use but it's just not for me. I feel overwhelmed by it since it's got too much going on. I was willing to just let it go and deal but when I tried to sync my social network contacts to my phone it turned into a disaster. The old EVO could sync contacts (and not duplicate) with ease, the Galaxy just doesn't get it. I have dupes, the contact photos from G+ don't even pop up, Facebook contact pictures look terrible, it's just really disappointing.

The battery seems to crap out a lot, but I read in several other sites that the phone just needs to have Wi-Fi and some other features disabled. I'm really tempted to just go back and stick with my old EVO. I really was considering getting the HTC One, but the battery dilemma has me on the fence.

Anyone else having these issues with the Galaxy? Has anyone switched to another phone?

Hmm... I know that the contacts duplicate themselves all over the place, but I have found that for those important people in my life, that I can add them all onto the same id... It doesn't work like the HTC join, which really was quite clever.

Having said that, the battery on my phone lasts at least 3 times longer than my HTC Desire Z. And there is just so much more! I've taken it in bite size steps:

First let me say that the handwriting recognition was the main reason I made this purchase - it really is the best one I have found. After that here is my step by step plan to make the most of it...
1. Moving all my apps across.
2. Moving my music across.
3. Updating my contacts when I have time to kill (eg travelling on the tube, etc)
4. Exploring some of the new features - like the health apps.
5. I have also found some fantastic new apps.

I owned the Og Evo as well (loved it) and i used to have to tweak everything to help with battery. That and i bought 2 spare batteries off ebay to get me thru the day. The Evo made me feel dependent on extra batteries and was a major concern for me when i upgraded to the Evo lte.

So... The Evo lte helped me get over my spare battery dependence and the Htc One has helped widen that gap. Really great battery life in comparison. If you're not enjoying the S4 i would suggest you give the One a try. Its not nearly bloated as the s4 and may be more up your ally

The battery life on the One is not as bad as what people make it seem. I get great battery life for what I use my One for. Sure the S4's get a hour or two more but that's all dependent on our usage. The only thing about the One that I hate, is that it takes a lot longer to charge versus the S4...

If you aren't feeling the s4 exchange it for the ONE. The og Evo had terrible battery life in comparison to the new devices. The ONE's battery would be more than enough for you.
