Halo launcher and omni swipe

I use omni swipe. It's kind of useful, I guess, but I'm really curious about the "boosting" thing that it does with "inactive" apps. I don't understand why it has a fancy animation thing showing all the apps that it's closing. The fact that even has an animation at all makes me think it might be BS. I wonder if there's a way to find out....I guess, theoretically, if I rooted my phone (again), there's a way to find out....I could turn on the developer option to see the background processes displayed on the screen while I run omni swipe's boosting thing, but I don't really want to root my phone again...and I'm not super positive that would work...
