handbrake for high quality output on hdmi

there are a lot of threads for using handbrake to play on the evo screen, but i'm looking for handbrake settings so i can get good quality 720p for the hdmi output to a large screen tv.

i tried converting a *.mkv to *.mp4 using 1280x544 (same as source) but i'm not sure about the quality setting.

i've seen the article for handbrake, but they recommended 700 for the evo screen. it ends up looking all "blocky" on a large screen tv.

is there a good number for the avg bit rate? or is it the other setttings? target size, constant quality?

Forget about futzing around with Handbrake settings. I found a great utility (and its free) that will convert just about any video file into the perfect Evo video: "DVD Catalyst Free for HTC Evo". It couldn't be easier to use.There are no options or settings. You just drag and drop the video you want to convert onto it and click the button to start it converting. It works perfectly every time!
