Handcent and default messanging app

So when Android prompted me which app I want to set as the default for messaging I selected Handcent but whenever I get a text they both alert me... how do I disable this? Do I have to uninstall the stock messaging app?

Turn off the notifications in the default messaging app settings.

no, you have to go into default settings and turn off notifications for the default app.


go to messages app > settings > recieved notification and uncheck it
