Handcent/MMS issues

I've been having issues lately sending picture (MMS) messages with Handcent on my DX. I can send and receive texts just fine, and I can receive MMS messages, but if I send a picture to someone with Handcent, it sits there forever trying to send and has the rotating circle next to it. However, if I use the standard texting program they send just fine. I don't recall having issues with 2.1 or 2.2, never got to try on stock 2.2.1. I am rooted and running ApeX 1.3.1, and again, never got to try it on 1.3.0.

Anyone else having Handcent MMS sending issues?

I have the same issue when sending to some people, but not others. Both people that couldn't receive the image had Blackberrys, for what it's worth.

Having the same issue here. I tried switching between moto and aosp for default mms with no change. Think it might be an apex issue but haven't been able to nail it down yet. I'll keep trying and let you know what I figure out.

Chalk one more up for the same mms issue, apeX 1.3.1

If it happens I reboot my phone and the problem goes away.

Same problem but it will eventually send after about 5 minutes. I sit there and don't touch anything hoping it will go through. It always does but takes forever. I always thought it was a problem with my network signal.
Is it possible handcent is slower uploading mms messages to their server?

Glad I'm not the only person having this issue. It's strange how the standard messaging program works but Handcent doesn't. Is anyone running stock 2.2.1 having this issue or is it everyone with ApeX?

I doubt it, I've never had an issue sending MMS messages with handcent with 2.1 and 2.2. This is the first time I'm sending an MMS message since 2.2, and I wish I would have tested it out with stock 2.2.1 and ApeX 1.3.0. I let it sit for about ten minutes and it still didn't go through, yet it never gave me an error message saying it couldn't be sent. Maybe I should try removing Handcent and reinstalling it?

The default Blur message program sends them perfectly, I didn't try the AOSP program though. It's got to be an issue with Handcent, it's either having a bug or ApeX is conflicting with it somehow.

you have to restore the default txt msg app.
su
messaging -mot
reboot

then go into the text messaging app and turn off notifications. (so you don't get 2 notifications)

try again and see if it fixes your problem.

I'm on stock running froyo. The messages will eventually go through 90% of the time but it takes a good 5 minutes of watching the rotating circle. So its not just apex. It must be a combo of handcent and apex.

I've already done that last week when I installed 1.3.1, so this is not the issue.

I've never used Apex and I had the problem on stock Froyo. I'm running Darkslide V4.0 now and the issue still exists.

i am 100% stock with the 2.2.1 update and i can send and recieve MMS with handcent just fine. When i send a pic it comes up and resizes then takes about 5 seconds to send...

Lucky. I wish I could figure out what's going on with mine, along with other users as well.

Interesting... I removed Handcent, rebooted into recovery and cleaned the cache, rebooted into the OS, changed a few settings around in ApeX including setting AOSP back to the default messaging program, then back to Blur. Reinstalled Handcent and bingo, it's sending MMS messages. Takes a minute or so but it's sending.

I love Android, very mysterious beast.

Try updating to darkslide 4.1, I flashed it cause I was bored and have had no issues with handcent. Still like apex better but this might work for you.

Now...what is the commands to deactivate it again...if someone wanted to? Im just going to hide it with LauncherPro Plus.

You cannot deactivate it, only switch between the Blur messaging and AOSP messaging apps. Handcent basically piggybacks on the default messaging program, it's not a standalone program. In order to send and receive text and MMS messages, you need to have a default messaging program on your phone.

You can hide it with ADW or LP+ and it won't affect anything.
