HandShaker App not connecting via USB, how to fix?

I have used HandShaker to transfer files from Android Phone to Mac for a while. Either using WiFi connection or USB both worked fine. Before when connecting the device to Mac via USB a notification on the phone prompts to select the correct USB connection method and so long as both the apps are running on both devices it connects! However now neither the phone or Mac register that they are connected.
