Hangouts and Messenger on T-Mobile

Juat curious if anyone else still has this issue. When I use Hangouts or Messenger on T-Mobile I always get double messages. Like the same message will come a few times. When I use Textra this doesn't happen. Also when I use Wi-Fi calling set to Prefer Wi-Fi I often don't get messages until minutes or hours later, and people on the receiving end will get my messages delayed or only parts of my messages. Is there a known fix for this? Would switching SIM cards possibly fix the issue? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm using Hangouts and have the same issue with getting double texts when they come in. Most people I talk to are through Hangouts rather than sms so to me it's not a big issue since usually the only texts I get are alerts from my bank/utilities.

I'm guessing it's an issue with how Wi-Fi calling was implemented in the build and will hopefully be fixed in a future update.

From what I've been told, it is a VoLTE issue. If you disable that, this duplicate message issue goes away.
Switching SIM cards doesn't seem to help.

I've tried it all, and for whatever reason, for me, Hangouts just won't completely play nice on my T-Mobile Nexus 6. The Hangouts part is fine, but SMS/MMS just isn't reliable. Maybe it's how Wi-Fi is on T-Mobile, I don't know. When I'm out, and not using Wi-Fi, I don't have problems, but when on wifi, which I am most of the day, I often won't get full group messages, or undownloadable MMS pictures. Same thing for Messenger. Back to Textra for me, which never gives me these issues.

Same here and one up, sometimes folks tell me I'm missing texts and days or weeks later the text will come through as part of a text the person just sent me. Makes for some very strange conversations. And so far only over WiFi. Very strange indeed.

Weird. I'm on AT&T (Nexus 5), and I've never seen this kind of thing. I'm guessing it's to do with some t-mobile customization (like you said). Perhaps look into flashing one of the ASOP nexus 6 images. Not sure if they are compatible with t-mobile Nexus 6, but it's worth looking into if this is causing lots of pain.

To receive MMS on T-Mo, my experience has been that you need to have mobile data enabled, even if you are on WiFi. Try it out and see if that solves the problem.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's T-Mobile. I always have mobile data on while on Wi-Fi. Thanks for the suggestion though.
