Hangouts SMS, no notifications. GS4

Hello,

I have a Galaxy S4 and been using GoSMS from about day 1. I gave Hangouts a try with it's latest version and like what I see. The problem I am running into is, I'm not getting any notifications of new messages, though I have notifications on in the settings.

I disabled all notifications in GoSMS and they stopped but still none from Hangouts. I've googled and googled and tried various recommendations to no avail so I'm reaching out here for some assistance. Anyone here have the same issues and fixed it?

Have you tried completely disabling GoSMS instead of only turning off the notifications?

Short of uninstalling it, how does one completely disable it?

Yes, And in there is only GoSMS, Messages+ and Messaging. No Hangouts. Strange.....
