I have bought a Hannspree Tablet model SN14T71 (13.3" screen) and it's driving me bananas. Nothing works properly. I can access the internet but my browser is out of date. I go to use software updater which is OTA and I'm told "Error fetching update info No Peer Certificate". I insert a micro SD card (Sandisk Ultra 32Gb) and it says 'mount card'. I do that and it shows up in settings as having just over 29Gb available so the tablet recognizes it's there. When I access and download sites for software I think will help I hit download and it says "You need SD card, no SD card installed".

The settings screen reads as follows :
Android version 4.2.2
Kernel 3.0 36+ Wed Sep 25 14:37:39 HKT 2013
Build 20130925E - V1.08-13.3
OTA Updater ID hannstar133-europe-1.08
TP Firmware 0.0.4.0.
Rom version 1-08 25 Sep 2013 00:00:00

I imagine it needs 'flashing' or something but when I allow usb debugging and select it as a mass storage device or to transfer files my PC does not find it when I connect it up via USB connector.

I am absolutley baffled and desperate for any information/assistance anyone can provide on what to do. Most of the file links online are now defunct and out of date. Is there anybody out there who can bring light where there is currently total blackout ??

Re: Hanspree Tablet Help Please

"Error fetching update info No Peer Certificate" is generally seen when the time/date on the device is wrong. As for the device itself, it is very old and most apps are unlikely to be supported as it is running such an old version of Android. Can you return it?

Re: Hanspree Tablet Help Please

No my friend I cannot. Time and date of device are up to date. I was wondering if I can get it to identify the SD card whether I could do an operating system upgrade on it. I just don't understand how it is letting me mount the card, then recognising it as having available space but telling me I need to install one whenever I try and download anything....totally baffled by that. Thanks for replying, it's appreciated.

It wouldn't matter about having the SD card work, since there won't be a significant official OS version upgrade available for a budget device like that one. You'd have to look for a custom ROM for that specific device (if available, which is doubtful) -- look through the forums at XDA-Developers.com for that sort of thing.
