Believe it or not, the 11th April 2014 marked the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S5.

My own S5 doesn't look a day over 2. :)

With the exception of the port cover, which broke off about a year into owning it, my S5 looks brand new.
I guess being plastic with a properly fitting tempered glass screen protector and case works wonders.

By the time the Note 9 comes out, I would have had my S5 for 4 years.

I'm getting a little emotional right now. ??????

Because my eyesight isn't as good as it used to be I bought the S8 plus nine months ago, and I must admit that it's a fine device and I have no regrets.
But if truth be told I do miss the replaceable battery, the flat screen, and most of all the plastic back cover. I had the S5 for a little over 3 years with a tempered glass screen protector and a silicone bumper on it, and it had not even the tiniest scratch when we parted.

Apart from the flat screen, you and we all will have to accept these things as the way of the future. Unless you buy a cheapie, you won't get a plastic back. And to be honest, replaceable batteries I think are over rated. I've replaced my S5 battery a couple of times and it makes little difference-the battery life is still ordinary. And yes, genuine Samsung batteries. I'm sure it's something to do with the age of the phone and not having anymore the latest OS.

And Samsung's new batteries are suppose to lose only something like 5% capacity in 2 yrs. Which is excellent.
