Has anybody Noticed

The new Nexus is a big update to the 2012 version. Besides the obvious, of speed and display, has anyone else noticed that the new Nexus does a better job in sleep mode preserving battery life? I'm one that never shuts his devices off, and just let's them go to sleep....I would charge my 2012 Nexus to 100%, not use it for 12 hrs. and while the tablet was sleeping all that time it would use up 7 to 10% of battery life....The 2013 Nexus however, uses maybe 1 to 2% during the same period of time..... So the New Nexus seems to sleep better....anybody else notice this?

This is a result of better hardware and software working together to bring the best experience to the end user. Also, you might be experiencing wear on your original Nexus 7. If both were brand new out of box I think the newer Nexus 7 (2013) would provide a longer battery life. However, that would not be by a long stretch.

Since the new nexus 7 is recently just released, it is normal for it to be better than the older one due to improvements and feedbacks from users.
