I've had this phone since mid-May, and until yesterday, have not experienced any issues. It started early yesterday morning when I was talking to a friend and he complained he could not hear me on the other end. I hung up and called a few more people to make sure this was in fact a problem with my phone and not his. The test calls indicated the issue was on my end so the first thing I did was restart the phone and that seemed to correct the problem at first but it persisted on and off for several hours. Around mid-day everything seemed to be working fine again and last night I made numerous calls and through quite a bit of conversation had no problems at all so I thought I was all set.
Fast forward to this morning and the same thing happened again so I restarted the phone and up to this point (6:15pm EST) it's been fine so the problem is definitely intermittent. A few things to note: The speaker is working fine. I have played audio with the top speaker covered and there are no issues with the audio coming out of the bottom speaker. Also at virtually the same exact times when people on the other end of my call said they could not hear me I immediately hung up and tried the voice-enabled search in Google Now and it picked up what I said perfectly so I'm a little stumped on what is causing this problem seeing that the bottom speaker seems to be fine.
The only other thing I can think of is that both times the person on the other end said they could not hear me it was an incoming call and I had Tune In radio streaming while the phone was charging but that is my routine every morning and I have never experienced this before. Also I am with Sprint and when this problem first occurred the OTA update they pushed was not installed yet. This update had something to do with in-call HD voice so I thought that might be it. Around mid-day yesterday I still had not received the update automatically so I manually checked for software updates and it was available. I downloaded the update and did not experience this problem again following the reboot until this morning. Now today it's been 6+ hrs. and again no issues since I restarted the phone. I guess I'll see what happens the rest of the night and tomorrow morning. In the meantime has anyone else experienced this problem and what was the result? Did it correct itself, was the phone repaired, did HTC assist you over the phone or did you have to get a replacement?
