Has Anyone Here Used Both the G6 and U11?

Hey guys!

Just curious to see if anyone in this sub-forum has used both devices. I'm having a really hard time deciding between the two. The reason why I'm posting here as opposed to the HTC forums is because I usually spend a lot of time there; and am trying to see if the G6 is the phone for me. I used the G3 prior to my Honor 8 and loved it. I really miss LG. It's a tough choice, but I'll also admit that my contract is up in November and so financing a G6 from my carrier would be a lot cheaper for me than to, say, spend $900 outright on a U11 from HTC. I know I'd be happy with either phone.

Any thoughts? Thanks!

Can't help you based on your question, however since both phones are in the stores I would look at them both and see what looks, feels and tastes better.

I had HTC phones going all the way back to the Hero with Sprint, and including the Evo, Evo 3D, Evo 4G, M7, M8, and M9, before moving to LG. My G4 was a disaster, went through 3 with bootloops before Sprint swapped out for the G5. Had several unrelated issues with that, and Sprint swapped it out for the G6. Now, I really feel like I've got the right device, but there are times I still yearn for that sweet HTC hardware (especially the speakers!).

BTW...why are you ruling out the V30?

Thank you so much for your input! I haven't seen the U11 in any stores here in Canada but I'm always on the lookout!

It is too big for me! I do like the V series and I know the G6 is a bigger device as well, but after holding the G6 in stores I know it's a good size ratio compared to the V series.

I was gonna say try it out thru Amazon but just found out Amazon doesn't accept returns on cell phones anymore , since like mid 2016, unless it's defective, in which case they'll give you a new one. Guess too many people abused their return policy with phones...

Thanks for letting me know! Amazon was an option in the back of my mind. But if I buy the U11 I'll just do not it via HTC's site.

How recent is this? I brought Mate 9 and return since I don't want it anymore without no fuss or hiccup.

I currently have both of these phones. I switch from my s8+ to the G6. Paid off the G6 and upgraded to the U11.

What is more important to you is the question?

I prefer the look and feel of the LG G6. It is a beautiful device and feels great in the hand. That's where it stops for me.

When using them side by side you can definitely tell the G6 has last year's hardware compared to the U11. Functionality and smoothness and over all performance easily go to the U11. Then you have the camera which has one of the highest dxo scores for a phone camera. The front facing camera is miles better than the G6. Not sure what the storage of the Canadian G6, it's only 32 in the us compared to the 64 with the U11.

I prefer sense over the LG ui any day of the week. There is no bull crap added to it, it's almost stock Android with things added in the right places. Not sure if you are an amazing junkie, there is full hands free Alexa with this phone. The edge sense is really useful and is only going to improve with updates.

They are both amazing devices and both do a good job at what they are suppose to do. The only reason i would keep telling LG at this point is because is paid off and it will make my phone bill cheaper. LG on Sprint assigns an unlock code which allows a carrier to reassign the phone to network if they accept the code. I can't really sell it in swappa as fully unlocked.

Both great devices but the LG exhibits a bit of lag and delay with the UI, opening apps etc. The U11 is the fastest phone I've ever used, iPhones, pixels and galaxies included.

I don't think this is true. I bought a moto g to try and it wasn't my bag. Just returned it for refund last week.

I loved my G6 and so nearly got another recently but seeing the V30 leaks rules it out for me and puts the V30 right in my radar instead now

Thank you so much for your comment! I have seen speed tests with the G6 and U11 and the U11 beat out the G6 almost every time. I too am unsure about the G6's storage options or size in Canada; but I'm usually alright with whatever size I get.

I don't really know what's most important to me at the moment when it comes to deciding between these two phones. The U11 makes me a little nervous because it's all glass. Granted, my Honor 8 is also all glass; but that's definitely something I think about when it comes to upgrading. I wouldn't mind saving the extra cash as well. I may go back to the store in a little while and just test out the G6 again. I'd love to try the U11 too but it's harder to get my hands on that here in Canada.

Thanks again for your input! They are for sure great devices, no matter which you choose... It's just the choosing part that's hard!
