Has Anyone Seen the VZW Merge for Sale?

Back on May 12, it was reported on AC (and many other places) that the Merge would be available for Verizon, but only "through third-party distribution".

Has anyone seen a VZW Merge at a Brick and Mortar or online? I have a bunch of friends who are looking for a keyboard android and the offering from Motorola are not acceptable due to the crummy keyboards.

Thanks.

So far the only large brick and mortar that we know is getting it is Best Buy. They say in their mobile magazine that you'll be able to get Merge at Best Buy.com

As far as other places, I personally don't know, a lot of the B&M's (radio shack, wal-mart, Target, etc.) run their wireless websites outsourced by the people behind Wirefly...so the inventory could be different in a store than on the respective B&M's website (ie: Merge could very well be sitting in a store, but if you wanted to save yourself a trip and look online, you'd never know)...making it even more frustrating. You can usually tell when this happens though, because it'll say on the bottom of the website, and the site always manages to look slightly "off" from the main website's design and layout.

I've been checking Amazon Wireless as well...no sign of it there.

Some Verizon Wireless "authorized retailers" in your town might be able to get the Merge for you, or have planned to carry it. They aren't the same as VZW corporate stores, the easiest way to find them would be to go here: Store Locator - Verizon Wireless

Enter your ZIP and click Find Stores. When the results list populates, you'll notice that there's a tab that says "all stores". Click that. Now, in the list, you'll see some without this icon:

Those store listings that don't have the icon are third party stores. These are the ones you want if you want to find Merge.

Good Luck, its such a crying shame that we have to go through so much just to get this.

Yea, I was hoping to at least play with one somewhere even after I got my Charge. It's like getting Duke Nukem Forever, you just want to say you got to play it.

It would be nice for someone to actually press Verizon on it to find out where the hell anyone can buy this phone. Hell, if I found a place that sold one; I'd at least let people know and ship them out if people paid for them. It still looks like a really nice phone but I already got my upgrade.

It's a shame this phone went down the road it did. If this phone launched last fall like it was originally rumored to, I would have snapped it up in a heartbeat. I've been patiently waiting for a decent keyboard Android to launch on AT&T/VZW but now it's meager 800mhz processor is going up against dual core 1.2ghz monsters. Can't over look that. Too bad.

HAHA, you're right. This is truly the "Duke Nukem" of phones. I'm kinda in the same boat at this point...Galaxy S II's coming up....something tells me I'm crazy to buy a phone that wont have nearly as much devs behind it, and possibly wont even get it's bootloader unencrypted and more than a temp root....but the Merge's design is something that's too good to pass up. Plus your so right...it's a very unique part of smartphone history to have...definetly a talking piece for my fellow techie friends.

bought mine at a cellular sales store near albany new york. nicest phone I've ever owned. Keyboard is perfect. 4" screen would probably be a little better, but really nice nonetheless. curious why more info hasn't come out about its availability.

im selling my merge it works for t mobile unlocked for any service pm me if you are interested! thanks!

I'm in Ft. Lauderdale area and I walked into a "Verizon" store and bought one, great phone.
Later I found out that it was an "Authorized Verizon" dealer. Oh well, so far so good. Love the phone, great keyboard, everything works great.

I have them at the Premium Retailer I work for.

I just picked mine up 2 days ago from my local Premium Retailer. Had honestly never heard of the Merge before.... then found this site while trying to un-Bingify it... I really would have thought twice if I knew I wouldn't have the only things I liked about the DROID 1 and 2.
