I activated App Ops after reading an article about it on another site. It's a nice feature. I'm trying to strike the right balance with it for optimum battery life and just wondered if anyone else has used it or am I just late to the party?

No? Really? It's gets pretty deep into the system without rooting. Tons of toggles. Tons.

I downloaded this app from google play and all it did was crash my phone..........so I uninstalled it....... where is it in 4.3 ?? it sounds fishy .....

In Nova> long press home screen> shortcuts> activities> settings> App Ops> makes a shortcut on your home screen. Click on it and side scroll through the menus. Click on each item for toggles on/off for various activities.

Perhaps that is the reason it kept freezing my phone. I don't use any launcher besides the stock.

That's entirely possible, although I don't know if any other launcher has the same menu hierarchy,

Just wanna point out the fact that Hangouts has the option to receive SMS/MMS if you go into App Ops. It says never used but still.

Good catch! I think that's in prep for the next Hangout update. :D

Glad that app ops allows more permission control without root.
I've restricted a good majority of apps requiring too many access and have not seen any crashes or errors.

Nice find. Just downloaded the app,, good to know this is there. Thanks ;)

THE BEAST,,NOTE 3. SIZE IS EVERYTHING!!!

I'm curious how the location toggle works. I understand you would need it for location based services but I don't want it tagging my location in some instances say in a message or a photo, so how can you work out how the location toggle is being used?

On mine, there is a location toggle for each app that uses it. I set the toggles for individual apps to be able to use location services. Is this what you mean?
