Have Droid Turbo - What phone next?

My contract is not up for a bit, but my turbo's low ear piece volume is bothering me. Any suggestions for a replacement phone?

I am thinking about the Nexus 6p.

That's on my radar as well. Wish it had wireless charging and OIS on the camera. I'm also going to take a good look at the new Galaxy S7. Rumor has it they are putting a 3,600 mAh battery in it and the camera will have an f1.7 aperture. Also SD card.

I went from Turbo to Note 5. Now, I've never been a fan of Sammy, in fact I was quick to bash them in the past. Then a friend of mine got the Note 5 and let me mess with it. I was sold instantly.
I knew battery life wouldn't be quite as good as the Turbo due to the smaller battery, but so far it's made it through each and every day with plenty of juice to spare. I doubt I can get 9 hours screen time like my Turbo, but I do get 5 or 6 on a regular basis.
The camera though is far superior to my Turbo. Takes great shots and takes them quickly, which is important to me since I have a 3 year old and I don't wanna miss the moment.

I went to a 64gb Nexus 6p, thanks to a win from an Android Central contest. I didn't know if the bigger size would turn me off, but it has not been an issue. The fingerprint sensor for unlock is awesome, especially since I have to have a screen lock for exchange with work. The camera is very good and using Google photos as a backup is very helpful. The usb-c thing hasn't been an issue. Definitely consider the 64 or 128 gb for size. 32 won't cut it for movies, music, etc.

I kept my turbo just in case, but have had no issues. I love the 6p. Setting up was easy. Just popped the SIM from the turbo into the 6p, booted up and was ready to go.

(edit)... I forgot to mention battery life. For me, it is comparable to the turbo. I don't charge my phone during the night (I take it off charge right before bed). Because of the doze feature, it only loses 1% to 3% overnight and I get a full day before charging again around 9pm to 11pm. I still usually have at least 30% when I plug in at night.

Is you have any specific questions, I'd be happy to address those if I can.

Nothing wrong with my turbo at the moment. I'll look into getting a phone next November. That being said, if I had to get a new phone now, I'd probably get new Samsung Note or a Nexus 6p!
Can't wait for what we have in store for us in 2016

Any chance there's a new version of the 6P by then or one within months of release?

I really keep looking at Sony and wondering when they are going to put it all together. It always seems to me that they are close to blowing away the competition with their next generation but then they don't.

I do the same thing. Keep waiting for Sony to put it all together and WOW me. One thing I don't like about the Sony displays is the huge bezels. Also, the phones are kind of non-descript rectangular slabs.

My turbo contract is up in Oct. On the fence about next choice. I would be interested in the next turbo 3, but I am put off by Verizon's handling of android updates, lets see how long it takes for turbo 2 and our turbo to get Marshmallow. I am hooked on wireless changing and don't want to back-peddle with that feature, it would be great if next Nexus included it again, then that would be my likely choice. The idea of updated android, no bloat programs that you cannot uninstall, fingerprint scanner & premium specs is hard to argue against.

I want an upper echelon camera next time. Sony owns the pocket camera market with highly awarded rx100. They supply most cell phone manufacturers with their camera sensors....why can't that finally trickle down to their phones? Again, I say it, I would love for them to put it altogether.

That said if I had to but a new phone today it would be 6P.

I am not over my experience with the Galaxy S3 to go back to Samsung yet.

I am all about function over form. I don't give a rats azz about square corners vs round, fancy colors,etc
I have kept my last three phones in Diztronic cases.

I don't care about weight either. Give me a 5000 mah battery.

Give me optical image stabilization. Near stock Android or totally stock.

All that and you've got my money.

The 2016 Nexus will most likely be announced around Sept or Oct and available by Nov.

I like my Turbo and all the little Moto extras, so I've been leaning Turbo 2 (could Motorola really not come up with a more creative name??). I also tend to like LCD displays over AMOLED (however, the Turbo may have evened things out on that for me), so I also am eyeing the Moto X Pure.

Specs-wise, it seems the Turbo 2 would be the better performer. Besides battery life, I wonder if they're is any noticeable real world performance difference between the two.

I am also liking what I'm seeing from the LG V10.

In the end, I think it will come down to durability and battery life. It seems the Turbo 2 has the edge on that.

If your contract still has a couple months, forget the 6p because Snapdragon 820 phones will be available by the time you will buy your replacement phone. That's what you want (a 820 phone), due to its much better power efficiency as well as a load of other improvements it brings.

I have officially gotten into wanting a new phone itis.

For most of us who are locked into a Verizon contract until October and November. I think we are going to have lots to choose from. LG G5, a new Sony flagship, Droid turbo 3, Lenovo, Galaxy S7, HTC.

I have a feeling that the G5 is going to wow a lot of people here soon. Particularly those who didn't care for the back button.

Sometimes they offer upgrades before contracts are done, usually when new phones are out, as an incentive to upgrade.

I believe that anybody with a contract can do one more subsidized contract if they wish - at least for now.

I'm holding onto my Turbo at least until the Turbo 3 comes out. Despite being nearly a year and a half old, my Turbo still moves as fast if not faster than my wife's S6 and has (seemingly) double the battery life.

Agree. Volume issue aside, I'm not subsidizing a phone with their monthly lease lol. I may get a turbo 2 when the 3 comes out. Or the note when the new model hits the street. The turbo to me is a no frills workhorse.

FWIW, after totaling the monthly charges for a phone it's the same as the original list price. There is no interest or penalty (at least for now...)

Since there is a little bit of inflation these days, it's probably a better buy to pay that way rather than pay everything up front.

What is it about Samsung that puts you off to that brand?

I ask because I'm feeling a strong pull to the S7 Edge. Like you, I want to see what a class leading camera is like.
