i have to re-enter my password to my google act. at least 3 times a day. i thought maybe somebody was messing with my account so i changed the password but that didn't help. i'm using stock 2.3 rooted. I also have at least 1 reboot and/of freeze a day. I've debated about going back to un-rooted stock or to an upgraded rom probably ics. any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

You could try to sign completely out of your account and then log back in, maybe that will help? As far as running ics that's the way I would go but that's just me. My own opinion after running both cm9 and aokp is that aokp has more development. If you want simplicity them CM9 is the way to go. The only thing that doesn't seem to be working on aokp 30 is long pressing the home button, but you could just go with aokp 28.

i'm now trying to get rom manager to work but it just force closes. i need it so i can perform a nandroid backup. i think i'm going to go with aokp.

I would say try reinstalling ROM manager. If that doesn't work try Google searching how to do a nandroid backup in recovery. Hope this helps out some.
