It seems the definition of bricked has changed, or I had it wrong to begin with. I thought it meant when the phone won't do anything, won't power on or anything. But more and more I'm seeing it used as describing a phone stuck in a bootloop, or some thing else where the phone is on.
Can someone please clarify this term for me? Is its meaning interchangeable?
Not trying to be an ass, I'm really asking this
I agree that the term "bricked" is broad because most people think they have bricked their phones when it really is whats called soft bricked....in a state that you can not boot into the OS by conventional means.
It is very hard to actually permanently brick a phone . i want to know how many people get to a point where they give up
I've never personally bricked a phone, but I had two Galaxy S' brick themselves because they corrupted their internal sd. Not my fault, but still a brick. I haven't had any problems whatsoever with HTC even though my new phone has more security in place against rooting and hacking than my old phone.
My roommate bricked his Evo updating the radio. He pulled the battery after about 20 minutes when he thought the phone was locked up. Turns out it was still updating the radio....bricked! Won't turn on, charge, LED won't light up, nothing. We use it now at the apartment as a coaster![]()
