Having an app load at start

I have an AT&T Galaxy SGH-I747 with android 4.1.1 rooted. I installed swype from the Android market since the chances that AT&T would issue an update were slim at best. however I set this new version as my default input and it will stay until I reboot and then it reverts to the Samsung keyboard. My question is how do I make this new version of Swype a system app that loads on start up and if possible can I remove the old version.

I posted a message about this several days ago. It's a known OS issue which I think is not fixed until 4.2. Since we still haven't gotten 4.1.2 yet, it may be a while.

I also paid for Swype and had the same problem. The best you can do for now is to use the free version (lasts for a month) and hope that an OS upgrade occurs in time (not likely). The only paid keyboard apps that will not have this problem are ones where the payment is an in-app purchase (Kii keyboard for example).
