Having internet issues..help please

Hey guys...new to the forum and have had my galaxy nexus since they released it. One thing I noticed is that once I got the phone I couldnt access some of the websites I have always visited on my current phone(same carrier verizon) Its says ooops google chrome could not connect. It says this on internet explorer as well. I know there is nothing wrong with the site cuz my friend will pull it up on his phone as he is right next to me. So I guess my question is there anything I can do to fix this problem? I just think its kind of odd for my old Droid X to have no issue and once I get this phone there is an issue...any help would be greatly appreciated.

what apps have you installed since this problem started?

It could be a conflict somewhere.

I would uninstall all apps and try it.
If that doesn't work then a factory reset.

check your security/privacy settings?
