Having issues with wireless charging

Hi all! Okay so today I finally went for it and picked up the beautiful S8+. The Sprint guy sucked me in and gave me a hell of a deal for a case, screen protector, and wireless charging pad all for $70. So I get home, all excited to try out the wireless charging... Only to find that it doesn't work! I place the phone on and it keeps disconnecting and reconnecting, while saying "wireless charging paused" and then finally a notification that says "irregular charging detected." I have attached a photo of the exact charger I have. Anyone else experiencing this and/or know how to fix it? If it's a lost cause, I may just return it.

I don't have a wireless charger, but have read that it doesn't work well through cases. May have to remove first.

I think there may be a problem with your charger. I have owned previous Samsung fast charger and the current edition and both work fine even with cases. The other possibility is the cable or the wall charger you are using with the charger. You should use a Samsung fast charger and preferably with the cable that came with your phone.

That charger looks like the old version. I read that the phone currently has issues with the older charger. at least some people. The new convertible charger seems to work well. Be aware however that charger is 90 bucks by itself.

Yes, I was making sure to use the Samsung cord and the fast charging block. I think you're right, or it's that the phone has issues with the older charger, like the response below yours says. I may just return it and not bother with another. And I also really don't want to spend $90 on the new model, haha.

Fwiw, I use a Samsung wireless charger from a generation before that one pictured and I have zero issues other than it is slow.

I would suggest returning the charger for a new one, and if the issue persists trying a different model wireless charger to ensure the problem is not with the phone.

I would exchange it for a new one. My samsung fast charger is great and works through an otterbox defender with no issues.

Maybe try with a different USB cable? I've had issues with wireless charging when using cables that seemed less well constructed.

Had two 3rd part fast wireless chargers that work on my Note 5 and S7 edge but get the charging paused loop on the S8+. Picked up this one and works great.

I have the same charger and it works fine with my S8+, just not as fast as charging it with the cable.

Okay, I'll try it out on the newer model fast charger pad and see if it works with that. I'm glad to know others are having the same issue too. I might exchange it, not sure, I'd just wanna make sure it works first of course.

I bought two silver wireless chargers from AT&T store for $43 each. Sticker on box says "Oracle # 4802H" and model NG930TSUBUS. Let me tell you these chargers are a game changer!!

I bought some double sticky tape and taped it to my desk so it doesn't move around when I drop my phone into it. I then took a 3M Command strip (the one you use to hang pictures on walls) and placed it on top of the little lip/edge you sit your phone on. That allows you to press the top portion of your screen without forcing the base of the phone to push forward and fall off the charger. And even if it's tacky enough to keep the phone in place, the phone easily pulls off when I remove it.

I downloaded an app to keep my phone screen on when charging and another app to have volume buttons on the notifications pull down screen... so now in my pull down menu I have my music player playing with touch control for volume (no need to press the volume buttons on the side and knock your phone off the stand) and all my notifications pop up right on my desk in view all the time. I just lift the phone if I need to do typing and when done plop it right back on the charger.

The second charger doesn't have any crazy tape set up because I don't interact with it when I'm in bed. When I'm dead tired I just plop it on the charger and roll into bed. It's propped up nicely so I can see my AOD from my bed; my phone is now my official nightstand alarm clock.

Sorry to ramble on but I was one of those people that thought wireless charging was dumb because you can't interact with your phone while it's charging. For me this is totally the opposite. No more fumbling with wires and charging ports... thank you Samsung!!!!

This is a known issue, been reported everywhere, including here, with varying success using different charging pads. If the phone charges correctly using the furnished cable and wall brick then the phone is okay. Supposition is Samsung may have limited fast wireless charging using older pads. No proof that I've seen but they say only the new $99 Samsung pad is approved for the S8s fast charge.

I had an issue my first day with my older wireless charger but I am using my old charging brick not the new one and a generic micro USB cable and it works fine now. I have two pads from last gen both work fine. Try. Different cable and brick if you have spares or borrow a friends samsung devices have been finicky with this in the past I have noticed.

I'm using the same wireless charging pad as the op, I got it with my old S6 edge plus and it works great with my S8 plus, no problems at all.
I'd exchange it for another 😉
