Having mobile data trouble while browsing

Evidentely it had something to do with Hyperdrive ROMs specifically. A few other people were having the same problem also. On Liquid Smooth now, and it is working fine



I have a Verizon S3 rooted with Hyperdrive RLS14 ROM on it, and out of the blue last week, my internet became ungodly slow. It'll get to the 50% mark, and just stay there for 30-40 seconds before opening the page. Looking at the up and down 4G arrows, they just seem to stop for a while like it isn't asking for data anymore, then it resumes.

It works perfectly on Wifi, and when I do bandwidth tests on mobile data, the dl speeds are slower than normal(8Mbps now vs. 35Mbps before), but still within the acceptable range. I have tried it in multiple large cities, and it still seems to freeze up on websites. I haven't installed any new programs either. I feel like I am trying to look at porn with dial-up internet. Any ideas?

I do have unlimited data


Things I have tried so far:

new SIM card
3 different browsers
rebooting
Fixing permissions via recovery(twice)
deleting everything off of the phone in recovery mode and re-installing two different versions of ROMs

Have you tried something like Speedtest: https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...d=org.zwanoo.android.speedtest&token=8xaVVi1I to see if your problem is browser-based or applies to your mobile data connection as a whole?

What about reloading the radios specifically?

Yes, I have tried 5 different speed tests, and they all come up slower than before, but still around 6-8Mb/s. I used to hit 40, and consistently was between 30-40.

I am not sure what reloading the radio is, or how to go about doing so. Can you explain that a little please?

Your using the k3 baseband, there are two newer ones the b1 and f1 which is the newest one. Your are on the f1 build however.

Alright thanks. I am coming around to understanding it now. So I should just put the zip on my external SD and install from there? I planned on wiping cache and dalvik cache before doing it, but would I need to re-install the ROM after that?

Go ahead and drop it on your sd card then flash, no need to mess with the rom. I'd just clear the cache but you can clear both.

Well, it seems like it didn't do anything. Actually tested out to be much worse than the K3. I haven't ever had it this slow.

My bandwidth test earlier tonight in New Orleans was:
ping 122ms
dl 48.41 Mbps
ul 18.07 Mbps

Got home tonight to Baton Rouge(after MF1 update), and my scores were:
ping 128ms
dl 4.01 Mbps
ul 1.16 Mbps


I still can't figure out why webpages are loading so slowly, and taking at least a 45 second pause at 50% before doing something. They were doing it when my data was going 48 Mbps on the download.
