Having problems deleting apps from Android tablet

When I long press the icon, a popup window displays options, one of which is Uninstall, but the second I move my finger to the window, it disappears. Apps in question were NOT pre-installed.

What about when you go to settings, app list, and then try to uninstall via that method?

Is this on the stock launcher or 3rd party?

Welcome to Android Central! Are you long-pressing the app icon, keeping your finger on the screen, and then dragging your finger to the Uninstall option? Or are you long-pressing the icon, releasing the finger when the options come up, and then tapping Uninstall? The latter is the correct way.
