Having screen problems? OnePlus says too bad!!

I am returning mine even though OP5 was a solid phone for me. I need better camera like U11.

I don't see what the gripe is with this "jelly" - I guess since I'm vegan I don't relate -

Hearing that screens going dead makes me nervous.
I never want to go through the black screen of death with any phone again.

Perhaps "normal" is an unfortunate word. But if I understand it correctly, it is a hardware issue (the scrren orientation is upside down, physically), it is the way the hardware works and I think the honest thing to do is recognizing it, letting the future buyers know and decide if they whant the phone with that anyways.

Not all users are reporting this. It sounds like a hardware problem that's not universal and could be fixed with a replacement unit.

Well, I would doubt that some units only got the screen upside down, it sounds like a design decision. Maybe it is just that the visual effect that this generates bothers some people more than others. In that sense, it is a lot better if the issue is explained in a transparent way, and each one can see if it's a deal breaker or just a minor weirdness which is outweighted by the ton of other excellent features of the unit.

I read contradictory reports that BOTH this issue and the 911 crash have been fixed in software....this one at least seems impossible to address via soft updates...can anyone in the know comment?

I would agree, I doubt software can completely fix this issue, even though it might lessen it a bit. I wonder whether it is worth it wasting cpu cycles on it though.

Impossible only if the claims of the upside down screen are assumed correct.
Which they might not be.

That would be pretty easily proven I think by a teardown by iFixit on one exhibiting the issue and one not.

At least some people said they "couldn't unsee it" after it was pointed out.
Which means that the inconsistent showing of it might simply mean that all have it, and it was simply a case of it you noticed it or not
Certainly some users had it happening, but did not see it before.

I think its such a widespread and minor issue that it wouldn't be cost effective to replace phone with this issue

all phones have it, because the screen is mounted upside down. Some people are more sensitive than others that notice it more. I notice it but it was pretty minor

That being said, I returned the phone because this company just isn't being good to us customers. They hyped up the camera and the results were pretty poor and they swept this issue under the rug.

I really liked the device too and oxygen os is one of my favorites.
