Having trouble unbricking V

My buddy's V seems to be soft-bricked.

He is running ZV5 firmware with the Hitachi screen and was running Bobzhome's CM10 with COT 2.0 recovery.
He was doing updates to his apps on Play Store when his V rebooted randomly and went into the LG boot loop.

I have been trying this for days on end and with no success.

I am beginning to wonder if these methods are impossible on Windows 8 (I have a Dell laptop) due to this version of Windows having been rebuilt from the ground up and should be trying this on 7 or XP (XP would require me to try this at work though...). I followed the instructions to the letter of the thread and end up with this all the time:

After that happens, it just loops back into the LG logo boot loop. ADB can recognize my device, but not his. And cannot go into recovery.

Need some help on this one, not sure if I did anything wrong (again, followed the instructions as indicated, unless this was supposed to be installed in the root of my C drive, in which case, crap...). I am convinced it's just a soft brick.

I have really no input on this one as you seem to be more of a "guru" on this than I am but I'm thinking no matter what Windows version you are running, when a device driver(s) are installed, it should work and recgonize anything really..yeah on the main drive (C:/) or whatever it is.
If there's still a good recovery installed...(maybe switch to TWRP) then you can see if the mount USB feature is working properly and go from there to get her up and goin again.
Just my .02
good luck tho

Agreed, you already seem to know more about unbricking than I do. Have you tried another USB port or cable if you can't try another PC?

Your getting the "Model dll Message not Found" error.
The only thing that worked for me after getting that message is the other unbrick guide "Unbricking Your Optimus V", which you already know about.
Question: Do you have administration rights established when you try this? If not, log into computer as administrator and try again. If you still get the same error message even after pulling battery where descriped and running again then your going to need to use the other unbrick guide.

Will we go round in circles?

I have admin rights on Windows 8. I am even doing it right now on the Administrator account, following the instructions to the T in that thread. Loaded everything. It just sits there at 0% and its been 3 minutes. And my speakers continue to blast out the connect and disconnect sounds. Is there anything special with Dell computers, anything from Dell that has to be temporarily uninstalled?

How long is the process supposed to take?

UPDATE: Now 57 minutes and 0%

Doesn't take but several minutes.

We have a go on the KDZ method. Uninstalled Norton, which reverted Win8 back to using the built-in, redone MSE for firewall and anti-virus.

And now its on the "Flash Burning" part. How long will that take typically?

Honestly can't remember. I don't think it was more than ten minutes, but not positive.

Way too long.

I'm having a senior moment.
Will have to not think of question to get possible answer to pop to top of head.
Maybe?
