Having trouble with stock messaging app.

The stock messaging app is not showing my text messages. It is just showing small boxes. I have cleared the app's cache and still no luck. Any suggestions?

I just did a factory reset and still no luck. I think I am going to request am exchange. This the first time I have had problems with an HTC phone.

Interesting, mine shows fine on the stock messaging app. So if you switch the default messaging app to say other messaging app does the messages show?

Why not just use another messaging app? The Google Messages app is my favorite.

Are you sure someone is just not sending blank messages? Or maybe the something with your setting... Try sending yourself a message

With the stock app all messages are coming in blank. I installed Google's messaging app and everything appears fine.

It's an easily fixable issue. Especially when the other messaging apps are better anyway.

Agree with that but still he would want to make sure there is nothing wrong with the phone. Who knows it could be just that app being corrupt or may be something more that could lead to other issues.

I usually use Google Messages app but want everything to work correctly on a new phone. What concerns me is if there are other issue I have discovered yet.

I have the exact same issue with mine. Just got my HTC u11 this morning, and immediately noticed this problem. Cleared the app cache, did not help. Downloaded google messages and the text messages are there, it is just strange the default app does not work.

I called HTC this morning. They had to escalate the issue to tech support. They suggested that I use Google Messages until I get a response back.

I figured out the issue. HTC Chat had me reboot into safe mode. Safe mode did not help. So they had me factory reset, so I factory reset without restoring apps from previous device. Text messages worked then. The text messages were working properly, so I reset the device again to restore from backup. After that factory reset, the messages stopped appearing again.

It appears there is an issue with when you setup the phone, but choose to restore from a backup. I will have to do a third factory reset and no restore apps from another device. Guess I am going to have to download all my apps manually.

Thanks for the info. I will give that a try. Hopefully this will work. If it doesn't work, I think I am going to send the the phone back.
