Hd Dock Mirroring Vs HDMI cord

Is the HD dock really worth getting? I was able to mirror my Bionic just fine using an HDMI cable. Will the quality be better with the dock?

I was wondering the same because when I was watching a movie via HDMI mirror mode, it was a little choppy here and there. The file was about 700mb and being accessed from the ext SD though lol.
