HDMI not working with phone

Hello,

I just received my HDMI cable in the mail, and for some reasons when I plug it in...I don't get the notification. I know the cable is fine, because I plugged it into my Dad's phone and it worked like a charm.

Are there certain settings I need to make in order for it to work?

You need a rooted phone with a kernel that has hdmi enabled. If you got that then you got a problem with your phone.

Where did you get the cable from? I got one from Amazon that only periodically works, then I bought one from Monoprice and it works beautifully... for the apps that support HDMI. You should still always see "HDMI" in the notification bar if the cable is connected on both ends.

My HDMI cable (from Amazon) works fine in every app, except from VideoChat apps like Skype or GTalk, where the HDMI connection breaks as soon as I initiate a video call, while OK in non-video modes.

I bought mine from Amazon as well, and yet I still do not see the "HDMI" notification at the top. I hear it has something to do with the 2.3 update, but in order to possibly fix it you'll need to root your phone. Personally, I'm not that into my phone to the point where I'm going to root it. It's not a necessity to me.

Try rebooting your phone while the HDMi cable is plugged in, see if it recognizes it then.

Could be falty port also..happened to me...&i NEVER USED IT till I.wanted to try it one day....i wiggled the cable & turned on then off.....got a replacement phone....$100bucks later....boom......it works...not rooted = youtube, slideshow, & videoz work.....when rooted =.complete hdmi.mirrioring......
