So I purchased an MHL adapter for my SGSII and tried to hdmi out to my Samsung LED tv, but my tv doesn't recognize its even there? Am I doing something wrong?

Re: Hdmi out anyone?

No I didn't try yet....gonna give ita shot, thanks for the heads up! Will report back.

Re: Hdmi out anyone?

yeah charger has to be plugged in.
It took me 5 min to figure that out when using feature a couple days ago

You guys are right, it has to be plugged into charger as well. Much appreciated everyone, works perfect! Thanks!

Is the video output quality any less than say a PS3? I'm curious because I usually lug my PS3 over to my friends houses to watch movies off of a USB stick and it would be much more convenient if I could just put the movies on my phone and use the HDMI out.

The quality of the video playback is based on the files you use...

Hi all,

Just checking back in here. I ordered 2 HDMI adapters. The original one from Samsung at a very high price and the one recommended here from Monoprice.

They both work great!

I have attached one in my living room, with a 25 foot cable and it works great!

I have the other attached in my bedroom (which I need to run the wiring around my entire bed room to reach from the tv to the bed) with a 50th HDMI and it works great too!

The only disappointment, is that the TouchWiz home screen cannot rotate. And looks stupid on a large screen tv. The videos however play awesome!

And with my external bluetooth mini keyboard that has a touchpad, it's so strange seeing a mouse cursor moving around the screen.

I was surprised that there is no setting to shut off the Samsung screen when viewing it on the big screen of a TV. Looks like they both have to be on at the same time. Unless I don't know how to do it.

I guess they call it 'mirroring'.

Rob

PS And yes, you must have the power cord plugged into the usb port of the adapter!

was wondering if anyone had any information or knows what's going on with my situation...

so i bought an mhl cord/adapter from monoprice.com to hook my samsung epic 4g touch up to my samsung hd tv.... you would think samsung device to a samsung tv..this should work, right? ....wrong

i've tried all the possible troubleshooting i could think of and research...

used the stock samsung charger in the mhl adapter, with the hdmi cord connecting both devices
...also used a motorola charger
....switched hdmi cords
....turned on and off the tv and phone
....unplugged the cords from the devices
....checked fitment of cords/adapters to devices and each other
.....turned on usb debugging

is there something i'm missing :/ ..i would really like this to work...just hope i don't have a faulty phone or mhl cord/adapter....not sure which or if it's neither

thanks for reading and for you're help ahead of time :)

update: the plot thickens...i went over to a friends house and attempted connecting the epic touch into an rca hdtv and an off brand hdtv... out of the samsung, rca, and off brand tv the epic touch was only recognized by the off brand one... i'm really confused
