One way or another I am going to lose money and I'm not happy.

Is there a car head unit that will link well and easily with the Note 5?

I have a new head unit and HML adapter. Wouldn't work with my Note 3 (to beat up) even though it would mirror with zero issue to TV's. I thought about getting a Note 4 and should have, but got this Note 5 and now I'm going to have to spend more money to get a functional system.

I can ebay Note 5 and get the Note 4 and I'll be good or find a head unit to use with this phone and just keep it plugged into a charger half the day to keep the battery from going dead. Sort of lucky my finance could use the head unit I have and the HML adapter in here car because it works with here Note 3 and just put a new unit in my car. Either way I'm probably going to lose out on $400, but which way to go?

I hate this phone right now, but if the battery would last and the Mirrorlink would work I'd be in love. I can get over the wireless charger not working quick by using a shot gun on it. Man that would be a stress relief.

I would look at the NEX line from Pioneer, they are compatible with Android Auto. I have a Pioneer AVH-X5700BHS, which is not NEX and mirrorlink doesn't work. It is compatible with AppRadio, but it is still gimmicky. You might want to check out what Alpine has to offer, also. If I were you, I would check out some of the car audio forums and see is anyone has a sure-fire answer. Also, since the N5 is new to the market, there might not be too much information out there. Another thing that I would is go to a car audio store and just play around with their display head units. I have done that one myself. Just do your homework first before spending a lot of money and finding out that this doesn't work for you.

Looked at pioneer 4100 and it only has 1.6A so phone won't even stay charged. Might be able to make my own usb cable to work around, but that same guy said he was rooting to mirror phone as android Auto has very limited apps. Guess verizon and AT&T have it so these phones don't even turn on when KNOX trips. I'm hating this phone in so many ways. It fast and smooth with zero freedom and very little tech function. Like having an iPhone. Thanks for the audio forum idea.

Went back today and turned ML on from my phone and changed the setting on my headunit to ML. I was able to use ML with Miroamer app for like 2 mins and it stopped communicating. Had to turn the car off and back on to get it work again and the same thing happ'd. Too frustrating to mess with it in this state

Well, I have the Pioneer AVH-X4800BS and I the Galaxy Note 5. I'm investigating this as we speak. My head unit does not support Mirrorlink but I'm trying to get the Appradio One working. I will update here as to what I find out.

EDIT: So I found the Appradio page at Pioneer's website and it has the compatible head units. There is a big controversy about the cable that you should use. Pioneer has the CD-MU200 cable but it also says or the cable that came with your phone. Check out the sight here Appradio One

I got the AppRadio One working for the most part. I actually got it on the radio screen but there is another issue with the Bluetooth. When I play music the sounds comes out of the phone instead of the truck speakers. I looked and the pairing is not supporting the Media Audio now. I unpaired them and paired them again and now the Call Audio and the Media Audio are now not supporting. It will not let me turn them on. So I have some work to do still.

I used a cable that I already had which is a OEM USB cable. I plugged the OEM cable I have into the USB extender cable that comes with the pioneer unit and it was working to get the on screen app to show. I used the navigation, weather, calendar, and music. What is odd is that it was playing the music from my phone but not over the truck speakers.

I will investigate a little further and then update what I find.

Pioneer AVH-X4800BS
Galaxy Note 5
AppRadio One

EDIT: So far I have not been successful, but I did find that the AppRadio One and the Head Unit Bluetooth are different entities. When I use AppRadio One the media support turns off on my phone in the bluetooth settings automatically. When I navigate over to the Bluetooth Audio and play music separate from AppRadio One the Media support comes back on and plays music from my phone through the speakers. Odd but this it the nature of things so far. When navigate back to the AppRadio One app and play music the Media support turns back off and the music from the app plays through the phone speaker. It seems at this point that I have to have a second cable that goes from my 3.5mm audio jack on my phone to the rear of the head unit to jack in the music.

I'm going to keep trying to to figure this out there has to be another way. the videos I have seen on youtube show them playing music from AppRadio One app through their car speakers.

I finally got it working properly. My problem was one setting in the settings menu.

Go to settings by hits the gear in the top right corner
go to the tools tab (General settings)
Go to "Input / Output Settings"
Under AppRadio make sure it is set for AVH and not Smartphone. I had it set to smartphone so that is why I was hearing the music out of the phone instead of the truck speakers. I hope this helps someone.

I put in a brake bypass and did not have it hooked up correctly. Now I have that corrected and all is well.
