Question head unit running Android 10

Three years ago I bought a new head unit for my motorhome that runs Android 10. It has worked nicely until recently.
1. I'm getting the message "app keeps closing" for no reason, even when I'm not running the app. Happens most often with Chrome and Edge but also with Waze and others.
2. There are several pre-installed apps that I'd like to remove but the option isn't available.
3. The Android version has never been upgraded.

Is there a cleaner I can run to remove the junk?
How can I remove stubborn apps?
How can I update the version of Android?

Other than performing a factory reset, does anybody have any suggestions?

Welcome to Android Central! These head units from no-name or off-brand manufacturers never get any kind of support, so there's really no way to update the Android version. (The only way would be if some enterprising techie nerd developed a custom ROM for that specific device -- the forums at XDA-developers.com would be a better resource for that kind of thing.)

Most of the time, the OS on these devices will be fairly locked down, so it might be very difficult to remove unwanted apps. You'd probably have to root it, which again may not be possible.

Not very encouraging, man. My unit is branded Xtrons. I suppose that is a notch better than a no-name. They do reply to my inquiries, but their advice is not real helpful.
A few days ago I left this same message on XDA but nobody there has chosen to reply. Maybe I'm posting in the wrong forum?

I am able to download from Google Play and I can execute any APK file. I'm still hoping somebody can suggest a cleanup utility like CCleaner for Android.

If Waze and Chrome used to work but now they suddenly start aborting, the cause is either junk files or collateral damage from another app that I installed. There must be a way to fix.

I don't think it's the wrong forum -- I think that it's just not a common enough device for anyone to bother developing a ROM for.

with all of the above in mind, can you identify any maker that is reputable and can yield more than a "one and done" OS version on an Android head unit? if yes, I might be willing to splurge.

Pioneer seems to make a bunch, but (a) I'm not sure how reliable they are with updates, and (b) they all seem to be Android Auto head units, rather than standalone Android devices (which is often what these no-name head units are).

What exact model number you have ?

What Android version it came with will most likely stay with .

You should have a settings menu for Andriod see if your maxed out on memory as they don't come with a lot to start with and you should see your application installed there.

They are usually like tablets but with radio and HVAC controls so it should have Android menus

Xtrons TQ125L
Android 10.0
CPU: RK3399-PX6
RAM: 4GB
Memory: 64GB ROM
Screen: 10.25 inch, TFT, 1280x480

When you say "memory", are you referring to volatile RAM or storage? My storage was only 26% used. I couldn't find how to measure RAM usage. I tried using CCleaner Android to clean up the mess, but it abruptly stopped like so many other apps.

Finally, I had to throw in the towel and perform a factory reset. Most things work well now, but I would still like to know how to delete certain apps such as the TPMS app that doesn't work right.
